Session Description
This session examines the principles and philosophies that can help you become more effective at work and home. This unique session will offer you ideas and processes to become more effective at your job including steps required to create a strategic plan, develop time management skills, set priorities and stick to them, create a trusting team and develop concepts to help you get the results you want. This session will provide insights about how to become more effective in your personal life as well. Keep in mind that all of us have many roles in life that we must balance and it is imperative that we find ways to create a healthy work/life balance to achieve true effectiveness. Bennett will combine her experience and knowledge of prospect research with her facilitator role of the “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” course to provide you with ideas she has utilized in her own career and personal life.
Speaker Biography
Lori Bennett, CFRE, has been in prospect research for 17 years and is considered a pioneer in the field of Advancement Research in Canada. She created and manages the Advancement Research & Prospect Management office at the University of Alberta. She also is the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPP) Liaison Officer for the entire External Relations portfolio. She recently was the project manager for two components of a major database conversion project at the U of A.
Bennett has received a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from the School of Business, University of Alberta, and received her CFRE designation. She is also a certified "Seven Habits for Highly Effective People" facilitator and teaches a three-day course to university employees from across campus.
Bennett is one of the founding members of APRA-Canada; is the Past President as of November 2006 and the former Chair of APRA's Ethics Committee. She has been on a number of planning committees and has spoken at a number of conferences for CCAE; CASE and AFP as well as APRA. She has taught fundraising courses to professional fundraisers for AFP members preparing to obtain the CFRE designation.
