Call for Conference Volunteers

If you’re planning to attend this year’s conference in Anaheim, why not consider volunteering as well? Volunteers help to make the conference a real success by meeting and greeting attendees, assisting workshop/session speakers and managing busy information and resource areas. Sign up now

There are so many ways to get involved and time slots are flexible and convenient — you can volunteer before or between educational sessions. Assignments range from half-hour to two-hour shifts (e.g., stuffing water bottles and hospitality). Consider taking more than one shift if possible. For example, when you know the workshop(s) or educational sessions you will attend, sign up to be a room monitor for one or more of those sessions.

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, get connected and give something back to our organization. Besides that, it’s fun! To show our appreciation, APRA will be giving away two $50.00 AMEX gift cards. All volunteers will be entered into the drawing — sign up for multiple time slots and increase your chance to win.

The various types of volunteers needed during conference and the responsibilities for each volunteer assignment are explained below.

Conference Volunteer Job Descriptions

  • Water Bottle Stuffing: Volunteers needed Monday, July 19, to stuff the conference bags that all attendees will receive.
  • Hospitality/Information Desk: Volunteers from the Anaheim area needed for hospitality. Do you know Anaheim? If so, we need you. The Hospitality/Information Desk will provide attendees and guests information about local attractions, restaurants and transportation throughout the conference.
  • Registration: Volunteers needed to check-in attendees and distribute conference materials (name badges, water bottles, etc.). Volunteers are encouraged to attend one half-hour training session describing registration duties.
  • Room Monitor: One volunteer is needed for each educational session. Room monitors check with the Volunteer Desk before a workshop/session begins to confirm the status of the speaker. Room monitors also welcome the speaker(s) when they arrive, ensure room arrangements and speaker's AV requirements are met and inform the audience how to obtain handouts. At the conclusion of the presentation, room monitors thank speaker(s), remind the audience to complete their evaluation forms and return the collected/completed evaluation forms to the Volunteer Desk.

Volunteer training sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, July 20 (Registration Volunteers ONLY) at 2:30pm – 3:00pm, Wednesday, July 21, at 8:00am – 8:30am and Thursday, July 22 at 8:00am - 8:30am. Volunteers will receive information about training session locations via e-mail.
