Call for Conference Volunteers

If you’re planning to attend this year’s conference in Denver, why not consider volunteering as well? Volunteers help to make the conference a real success by meeting and greeting attendees, assisting workshop/session speakers and managing busy information and resource areas. Sign up now

There are so many ways to get involved and time slots are flexible and convenient — you can volunteer before or between educational sessions. Assignments range from half-hour to two-hour shifts (e.g., stuffing conference materials bags and hospitality). Consider taking more than one shift if possible. For example, when you know the workshop(s) or educational sessions you will attend, sign up to be a room monitor for one or more of those sessions.

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, get connected and give something back to our organization. Besides that, it’s fun!

The various types of volunteers needed during conference and the responsibilities for each volunteer assignment are explained below.

Conference Volunteer Job Descriptions

  • Stuffing Conference Materials Bags: Volunteers needed Monday, August 18, to stuff the conference bags that all attendees will receive.
  • Hospitality/Information Desk: Volunteers from the Denver area needed for hospitality. Do you know Denver? If so, we need you. The Hospitality/Information Desk will provide attendees and guests information about local attractions, restaurants and transportation throughout the conference.
  • Registration: Volunteers needed to check-in attendees and distribute conference materials (name badges, conference bags, etc.). Volunteers are encouraged to attend one half-hour training session describing registration duties.
  • Room Monitor: Two volunteers needed for each educational session. Room monitors check with the Volunteer Desk before a workshop/session begins to confirm the status of the speaker. Room monitors also welcome the speaker(s) when they arrive, ensure room arrangements and speaker's AV requirements are met and inform the audience how to obtain handouts. At the conclusion of the presentation, room monitors thank speaker(s), remind the audience to complete their evaluation forms and return the collected/completed evaluation forms to the Volunteer Desk.

Volunteer training sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, at 8:00am – 8:30am and Thursday, August 2, at 7:45am – 8:15am. Volunteers will recieve information about training session locations via e-mail.
