  • Competency 5: Financial Capacity Evaluation and Wealth Indicators

Within the last two decades, the art market boom has made art collecting more than merely a private passion, but an effective way to hedge wealth. From hedge fund managers to oligarchs, people with high net worth around the world have embraced art collecting as an alternative asset category. Yet the comprehension of art as a wealth indicator remains obscure. In this session, I will present an overview of the composition of the global art market; discuss how art has been priced, circulated, and speculated upon; and provide insights on evaluating gift capacity based on art collections.
