PRSPCT-L: The Growth of a Community

PRSPCT-L (the “L”), as originally founded by Joe Boeke, has served the prospect research profession since 1992 as a vital and valuable online discussion forum. In 2003, Joe asked APRA to assume ownership of PRSPCT-L and worked with APRA leaders Randy Lakeman and Mark DeFilippis to formally transfer ownership of the “L” to APRA. In April 2003, the APRA Board of Directors approved the transfer and the association became the new owners of PRSPCT-L.

Over the years, the “L” has gone through a number of transitions, such as being hosted at various discussion group service providers, including several universities, Yahoo! Groups and most recently, Charity Channel. We are grateful for and recognize the role of these organizations in providing the technology platform for hosting the list throughout its history.

In 2009, APRA committed the resources and technology to launch the hosting of the L within APRAhome.org. The new home for PRSPCT-L at APRA ensures that free and open access to the “L” will be available to anyone in the fundraising research profession who wishes to participate in our highly-active and collaborative community.  As always, participation on PRSPCT-L is available to subscribers beyond the APRA membership.

With the move to APRA, subscribers to the “L” benefit from peer networking and valuable access to expert advice gleaned from veteran practitioners, leading consultants and industry leaders.

APRA is the resource for fundraising research, analytics and relationship management and we are proud to continue our support and promotion of the PRSPCT-L community.
