Anne Brownlee, Director of Research for Corporate and Foundation Relations, New York University
Anne Brownlee is Director of Research for Corporate and Foundation Relations at New York University where she leads a team that identifies, researches, and tracks corporate and foundation funders for projects across NYU. Prior to joining NYU in January 2016, she was Manager, Prospect Research and Due Diligence at the University of Adelaide in Australia. She has also worked at Yeshiva University in New York, where she was Senior Director of Research and Data Management and spent seven years at Harvard University, working at the University's Office of Alumni Affairs and Development and Harvard Medical School. She began her career in prospect development at Brandeis University and also worked at Brown University. Anne has a B.A. from Wellesley College and and M.L.S. from Indiana University. She previously served on the boards of NEDRA and APRA GNY and has spoken at NEDRA, APRA, CASE, and AFP conferences.
John McBride, Director of Prospect Management and Research, Loyola University Chicago
John is the Director of Prospect Management and Research at Loyola University Chicago. In his current role, John he is responsible for implementing all prospect management and research related activities for the entire advancement team.
Prior to that he was part of the University of Chicago’s research team for over 7 years where he worked on mega gifts strategy meetings and helped coordinated the prospect development cycle. He also served as research liaison for the major gifts team, the medical center, and the regional offices. Prior to his time at the University of Chicago, he was a client service representative for WealthEngine. When he’s not at work, he’s wrangling his two rambunctious preschoolers and helping prospect research teams all over the city win trivia nights across Chicagoland.
Janet Weimar, Associate Director, Prospect Management - Health Sciences/Health Care Philanthropy, University of Iowa Foundation
Janet has worked in the field of prospect development the last 18 years and has extensive experience in the areas of non-profit data management, prospect research, prospect pool segmentation and analysis, and portfolio management in both higher education and health care fundraising offices. She started her career at the University of Iowa where she worked for 11 years before moving to UnityPoint Health, the largest integrated health system in the state, to assume the role of Prospect and Research Manager. In that role, she directed the operations for a centralized research and data team of two supporting six foundations serving eight hospitals and two colleges. In 2015, she returned to the University of Iowa Foundation as a prospect management analyst, providing research and prospect management support to 16 assigned fundraisers and serving as a member of the internal task force for health care philanthropy. She was recently promoted to her current position.
Active in the field, Janet has served in a number of volunteer roles with APRA over the years at both the local and international level, including conference chair and president for APRA Great Plains, member of the conference planning committee for the APRA Midwest Chapter’s Conference in 2009, and member of the Education and Professional Development Committee for APRA International (2010/2011 and 2016/2017). She chaired the 25th Annual APRA International Conference in Minneapolis in 2012 and has served as a speaker on a variety of prospect development topics for both APRA and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
