Description: In its inaugural year, the Indiana University Health Foundation set off to create a grateful patient screening program to support development efforts throughout the state of Indiana. The Foundation defined the data feed, brought on a robust wealth screening vendor, and utilized innovative software to streamline – in some instances, automate – development operations functions. A new grateful patient program strategy was launched: a lean, centralized Operations team now identifies prospects for regional major gift portfolios as well as annual fund acquisition mailings. This breakout session will touch on the healthcare philanthropy best practices that inform IU Health Foundation's grateful patient strategy. The presentation will walk through the patient screening workflow to identify prospects for all development segments from major gifts to annual fund acquisition mailing. Plus, a look at projects to refine and optimize the grateful patient referral program, including clinician champion recruitment.
