Primary Competency: CA:Competency 7: Collaboration and Relationship Building

Description: In development, we constantly talk about capacity. In campaigns, we’re in conversations about big ideas with prospects who can make gifts of anywhere from $25,000 to $100 million! What role does your personal relationship with philanthropy play in these efforts? Have you ever wanted to make an impact with a gift to an organization and discovered that it may not be as easy as it seems? In this session, Emily and Bond will facilitate a panel of fundraising leaders, who will offer helpful tips to attendees to help to relate impact and personal philanthropy to our day jobs. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the role that organizational fundraising impact, tax laws, key decision makers, and the timing of liquid asset distribution all play in philanthropic decision-making. Attendees will also be able to leverage their own philanthropic experiences to improve communications with senior leaders and development colleagues about potential philanthropic opportunities.
