Strategic Road Mapping - Navigating Your Fundraisers' Territories

Track: Data Analytics Symposium

Session Number: 2089
Date: Wed, Jul 31st, 2019
Time: 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Room: Grand Saguaro East

Description:

The University of Iowa Center for Advancement’s Health Sciences Regional Gifts team is charged with starting gift conversations with approximately 40,000 known households living outside the Midwest. How do these development officers know where to travel in their territories? Who of these 40,000 families should they meet with? Our Data Analytics and Prospect Management team collaborated with this group of fundraisers to create a tool that helps strategically plan their travel in order to meet their goals and metrics.
In this session, we will share the organizational and team changes that sparked the idea of a “road mapping” process for the Health Sciences Regional Gifts team. We will explain how this document got its start with a simple, user-manipulated Excel document. Our Data Analyst will share how further collaboration advanced the “road map” tool – by linking the Excel document to our organization’s database and allowing the product to be more responsive to user needs. The creation of this document has provided our fundraisers with meaningful data to assist in their strategic trip planning.
