Cave Diving in the SEC Data Lake
Lori Hood Lawson and David Lawson
Once you get beyond the surface of standard SEC documents, you discover a wondrous world where public, private, and financial company data is readily available. The challenge is knowing where to look; how to interpret it; and most importantly, how to apply it to your research. Put on your tank, and join us as we explore the data caves of the SEC.
RFM/deRscore –
A What Have You Done For Me Lately Score
David E. Robertson Jr.
This presentation introduces classic RFM Analysis (recency, frequency, monetary) to those new to donor analytics. RFM Analysis is used in marketing analysis and understanding consumer behavior. Using this methodology we can now understand recent donor behavior. The participant will walk away with a very powerful tool that highlights and scores recent giving behavior and ranks large data sets based on current behavior. Two simple scoring methods with be introduced.

Skill Sharing
The Skill Sharing Program offers APRA-UNY members free one-on-one learning opportunities through email and phone. This program is designed to get members in need headed in the right direction, not lead them every step of the way. Volunteer teachers offer a particular expertise to members who are in need of learning. Through the Skill Sharing Liaison, the student is introduced to the teacher. Teacher and student will have an initial conversation about expectations and agree upon date, time and method of communicating. Designated, uninterrupted learning sessions are held to a maximum of three one-hour meetings.
