Description:

Utilizing The University of Texas at El Paso as a case study, this presentation will provide a framework of critical thinking to understand how roles in fundraising shape communication styles and form implicit biases impacting prospect management strategy. The presenter will explore rhetorical spaces in fundraising impacted by the terminology used interchangeably and new words incorporated by the rapid growth of data analytics - all assimilated at a different rate by prospect management and major giving officers, ultimately impacting prospect management strategy. This session will open a platform for discussion to help identify challenging interactions and recognize opportunities to improve communication with major giving officers to make it more efficient, promote a healthy work environment, cultivate relationships internally and, ultimately, support the fundraising goals of the department.
