Chapters Share the Knowledge
The Chapter Committee is committed to providing programming that will expand, strengthen, and support Apra Chapters and their development. Our intent is to help grow the leadership skills of the Chapter Leaders, thereby benefiting the Chapters. Through previous Chapter gatherings and conversations with the Chapters and other Apra Committees, we've identified that education around board development is strongly needed. To meet this need, the Chapter Committee has planned our 2023-2024 Chapter Share the Knowledge event to be a 4-part programming series around board fundamentals. Chapter Leaders are invited and encouraged to attend all four sessions to learn more about good governance practices for managing their Chapters.

Session #3: Revitalizing Chapters: Addressing Burnout and Cultivating Board Engagement
In this engaging panel session, we will address the prevalent issue of burnout among chapter leaders and explore effective strategies to reignite their passion. We will hear real-life success stories from chapters that have effectively tackled burnout and witnessed a surge in enthusiasm for board service. Additionally, we will delve into the importance of board service as a means of channeling a deeper impact. Our goal is to find ways to transform challenges into opportunities.

Session #1: Board Governance and Structure
Please join the Apra Chapter Committee for the first session in the 2023 Chapter Share the Knowledge Series on Board Fundamentals. In this first session, the discussion topics will be centered on Board Governance and Structure. We will focus on chapter structure and related boards for both small and large chapters, identifying protocols and how to create or edit board by-laws, and an overview of board role descriptions and responsibilities. Be ready to share your experience as an active board member and to gain insights from your peers.

Session #2: Managing a Chapter: Financial Security and Vendor and Event Management
The Chapter Committee thanks everyone who attended the first session of the 2023 Chapter Share the Knowledge series in April. As we noted, the focus of the series this year is on Board Fundamentals, and the next session will be about Managing a Chapter: Financial Security and Vendor/Event Management. This session will cover topics related to financial reporting, sponsorships, evaluating the financial health and needs of your Chapter, and managing event costs, along with mundane yet essential tasks like how to transfer the Chapter checkbook to the new Treasurer at year end.
